34th Annual Ogden Newspapers 20K Classic
The fun begins on Friday, May 28, when the Torch Relay starts at the Osiris Shrine parking lot in Elm Grove.
This will be the fourth year for the relay, which pays homage to veterans representing all branches and eras of military service. All veterans and their families are invited to participate in the event, which will cover the final six miles of the 20K course along National Road.
The Ogden Tiny Tot Trot will step off at 6:45 p.m. under the WesBanco skywalk over 14th Street. At 7 p.m., the Ogden Fun Run will take place, followed at 7:15 p.m. by the Ogden Mile / Masters Mile.
Activities on Saturday, May 29, begin with the 20K Walk at 7:30 a.m. The main event - the 20K Run - gets under way at 8 a.m., with the 5K Run and Walk starting at 8:15 a.m.
Ogden 20K to benefit The Miracle League
Proceeds from this year’s Ogden 20K Classic Run and Walk will benefit the Miracle League of the Ohio Valley.
Race Director Robert "Scat" Scatterday said the Miracle League field ties in with the Ogden 20K Classic’s mission of being the Ohio Valley’s premier community event.
"With our commitment to the Miracle League field, the efforts of those involved with the Ogden 20K Classic - from the sponsors to the volunteers to the participants - will go beyond the traditional four-day weekend to a year-round involvement with the community in this new field and the Miracle League program. We are proud to be able to give back by supporting this type of facility in our community," he said. » Full Story
